May Gallery...Phoenix Games June 2004 Gallery...July Gallery

The Month of the Samurai
On a fateful day in late May, Cooper spied upon a heavily discounted half box of Gold Edition Legend of the Five Rings Cards sitting forgotten on a Phoenix Games shelf. He bought the contents of the box. A few days later, he came by with his L5R collection and started teaching anyone who got too close to him how to play. James soon started bringing his collection as well, leading him to spend significantly more time in the store.

Legend of the Five Rings took off like a shot. We soon had over ten players showing up every week for the Wednesday night games (later moved to Monday night). L5R also provided a common interest for many regulars, causing many more regulars to spend over four days a week at the Store, playing L5R, building decks, trading cards, and talking about the game.

May brought a whole new group of regulars to frequent the Store. June cemented the bonds. Unfortunately, I was a bit shy on the camera that month, but such is life sometimes.

While I wasn't looking, a few of our plush friends got a little carried away.

The most exciting of the Chez ____ games for our particular contingent is certainly Chez Goth which came out in June. Here's us busting open a copy of Chez Goth shortly after it came in.

The great thing about Phoenix Games being so closely tied to the Come Again Players Rocky Horror Cast is that we get to put pictures like this in our gallery. This picture is from one of the less productive rehearsals that the Cast held at the Store.

It is far too common that we have images here that defy captioning.

Tegan found coming to the Store to be a real pick-me-up.
At least I managed to get a few pictures of people actually playing L5R.

June brought us the Dark Ages Fae book by White Wolf. Changeling fans have been waiting for this book anxiously for months. While Changeling only had a small following when it was in print, it was a very loyal following. Above, you see Michael Moceri showing his excitement at getting his hands on a copy by rubbing it all over his body.

Jeff, while also very excited about the new Fae book, practiced a bit more reserve in showing his enthusiasm than Michael did.

There are some who call him...Tim? Then we correct them and let them know that his name is Bill. Although, he is quite a wizard, as can be seen in earlier galleries.

The summer brought us Coureton's GURPS Red Star game. This game has been quite a phenomenon around the Store. The most unique aspect of this game is that is a military game run by a former marine and had a member of the Air Force playing the commanding officer...up until his character ran out of usable extremities.

Two role playing games and an L5R Tournament. Perhaps Wednesday is a little overfull...or the Store just needs to expand.

What do you do when you run out of room inside the Store? Game outside!
